The Department of History is pleased to invite applications for the 2015– 2016 Sanford V. Davenport Scholarship for undergraduate full time study in history. This competitive scholarship was established in 1982 by the Mahan family to further the interest in history. The department will award two to three scholarships to defray the cost of tuition. Each award will be for no more than $2,500 and no less than $1,500, divided over two semesters of study (in exceptional cases, reduced scholarships may be awarded for one semester of study). Current Davenport scholars may reapply for one additional year of support.
Applicants must be majors in history with a 3.0 overall GPA, and a 3.5 GPA in History. Recipients must take HIST 4797 Davenport Honors Seminar in the fall (current Davenport scholars do not need to repeat the course), and/or at least one history course per semester; and three courses for the academic year.
